Building resilience in our children
Creating the "good struggle" at home, tax tips, and local spring adventures

Parenting 2.0
Parenting today is uncharted territory. Not only are we adapting to the constantly changing world, never before has a generation raised children who have the entire world at their fingertips from the moment they can swipe a screen.
Our kids are growing up in an era where the world is truly their oyster - social media connecting them to peers across continents, AI tools doing their homework before they've even finished reading the assignment, and robot taxis potentially shuttling them to high school dances.
In this landscape of abundance, what will set our children apart?
The answer is pretty basic: being able to bounce back when things get tough. Kids need to try new things, mess up sometimes, and learn from their mistakes.
But here's the tricky part: we want to make our kids' lives easier and give them chances we never had, but we also need to get them ready for life's bumps and bruises.
Which is why I am so excited to be talking to Dr. Donna Volpitta next week.
A Conversation on raising resilient kidsAs an educator, and a mom of college aged kids, Donna has made it her life’s passion to build healthy minds and she’ll be sharing some of her learnings and experiences during our chat next week. Join us on |

Extensions are simpler than you think
The April 15 deadline is approaching, but if you are not ready, a tax extension may be a good idea. Here are some basics to help you figure out how to get started.
Key Facts About Extensions:
File Form 4868 by April 15, 2025 for an automatic six-month extension
Important: While filing is extended to October 15, payment is still due April 15
You must pay at least 90% of your total tax liability by the original deadline
What You Risk:
Interest charges (approximately 8% annually, compounded daily)
Late payment penalties (0.5% per month on unpaid balance)
Delayed refunds if you've overpaid
Smart Estimation Strategies:
Review your 2023 return as a starting point
Account for major life changes (marriage, home purchase, etc.)
Include all income sources, especially those without withholding
When in doubt, slightly overpay to avoid penalties
Remember:
State extension requirements may differ from federal ones
Quarterly estimated tax payments still follow their regular schedule
Some retirement contributions can be made until the extended deadline
